Gold Star Mother Escort to Arlington National Cemetery

Apr 25, 13 Gold Star Mother Escort to Arlington National Cemetery

Mothers Day is a special day on which we all pause to pay tribute to some very special ladies.  But for some mothers, it is a day of loss and remembrance as they feel the loss of their heroes all the more keenly.  On May 10th and 11th, Boots on the Ground NY will be helping one Gold Star Mother find some peace as they escort her from Long Island to Washington, DC so that she may visit her son’s grave for the first time.

Army Staff Sergeant Frank E. Adamski III entered the Army in March of 2005.  He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, based in Fort Campbell, KY.   Among his other decorations, SSgt Adamski was awarded a Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, and medals for service in both Iraq and Afghanistan. On March 29th, 2011, in the Sarkani District of Kunar Province, Afghanistan, SSgt Adamski was Killed In Action when enemy forces attacked his unit with small-arms fire.   Due to circumstances beyond her control, his mother, Susan Adamski, has never been to visit her son’s final resting place in Arlington National Cemetery, where he lies in the company of his brothers.

On Friday, May 10th at 1800hrs, BOTG-NY will be leaving from the Veteran Activity Center (VAC) at 2184 Pond Rd, Ronkonkoma, along with Susan Adamski, arriving later that evening in Washington DC.  Once we arrive and get settled, we will make a trip to Wall on Friday evening.  Saturday morning,  we will stage at Marriott Key Bridge Hotel at 0930hrs, from which point we will proceed to Arlington Nation Cemetery, where we will support and share with Susan as she visits her son.  Saturday afternoon will include visits to other area Memorials to pay our respects to our fellow Brothers-in-Arms of all eras.  Any who wish to join us in making this weekend a memorable occasion for the Gold Star Mother are welcome to join us.  This event is open to cars, trucks, and motorcycles.
