On Sunday September 8th, Shelter Island is hosting the 2nd Annual Spur Ride in Honor of LT Joseph Theinert. The LT was Killed in Action 3 years ago in Afghanistan. The proceeds from this bicycle ride goes to

There will be Wounded Warriors on this ride followed by over a hundred bicyclists.

We are in need of motorcycle riders to assist in traffic control, assistance, motivation and also providing an escort for a portion of the ride. We need a minimum of 25 riders to get this job completed.
Last year we had over 50 Motorcycle Riders come out in Support of this event, the riders, the Shelter Island community and Americas Wounded Service Members.

All riders are encouraged to come lend a hand for the morning.
South Ferry will be providing free ferry ride for all motorcycles coming out for this event. There is also a BBQ lunch following the event and Boots on the Ground NY will pick up all the donation costs of the Riders.
It is suggested you have water and snacks on your bike as we will be out there on the roads for a little bit of time that morning.

Staging: Island Grill Diner, Hospital Rd, Patchogue (7-11 across street has fuel available)
Time: 615 hrs
Or meet us at the South Ferry crossing at approx. 0715 hrs, please let Ferry employees know you are assisting the Spur Ride if you miss the group.
This year we will be pre-staging at SALT ( 64 S Menantic Rd, Shelter Island)
