Veteran Support Food Pantry needs your HELP.

Just today alone we delivered over 200 pounds of food to Veterans and their families and it shows in our almost bare food pantry shelving.
The Veterans we work with were recently in most cases homeless or living in shelters. Now they’re just getting homes and entering them with no more than the clothing on their back in some cases.
Boots on the Ground NY is responding as quickly as we can with furniture, furnishings, housewares and food to stock the cabinets. If you’re on our Facebook page you see us looking for Volunteers each Saturday morning to assist us with deliveries and donation pickups. The crew is out every Saturday and were also getting food to Veterans any evening that a request comes in. We are not feeding families on a regular basis, as we advise them to contact one of the larger food pantries on Long Island, but we do get calls when there is a hunger or financial issue and food is needed immediately.

We need HELP keeping the Veteran Support Food Pantry stocked. Every third Saturday we have a collection drive at the VAC from 0930-1530 hrs. But the need requires more. We need food drives out in the community. Please consider organizing a food drive, have your organization contact a supermarket, collect food at your meetings, and suggest your child’s school conducts a food drive. These are Veterans that live in your community’s scattered from one end of Nassau to the end of Suffolk Counties. These are our neighbors that are hungry, these are the Heroes that defended Our Country that are hungry, and some of them have very young children also.

We also accept food cards that cab be mailed to our PO Box, we have links on our website ( www.bootsonthegroundny.com/donate ) to make donations. If you’re interested in organizing a food drive let us know and we can show up with collection crates, signage and banners.

Other items were always looking for to assist our Veterans:

Dressers, Kitchen tables and chairs, living room tables, Couches, bed frames

Sets of pots, pans, dishes, glasses. Coffee Pots, Microwaves. We only accept items in great condition, boxed and always new items.

Linens, pillows and towels, new only please.

We do not accept used mattresses or box springs. We always make sure that Our Veterans and their families have a new bed to sleep in.

To arrange a pick up of donations please use the contact us link.

Thank You
