We have just received word that a local Soldier & Combat Veteran’s house was lost in a fire at 0300 on July 4th. This Veteran & Soldier has a Family that lives with him. We will be collecting clothing and gift cards for this Family tomorrow at the VAC from 0930 – 1500 hours and also on Sunday morning and Monday evening.

This is a Central Islip Family, the Father a former Marine & National Guard Combat Veteran who was deployed to Afghanistan a few years ago and is a SSGT in the National Guard presently.

The Family escaped the house fire safely with only minimal injuries. His daughter and granddaughter had minor burns and injuries from falling down the stairs.

 

Here are the clothing sizes:

2 year old granddaughter: Size 6-1/2 shoe, diaper size 6

24 year old daughter: Size 17 pants, 2xl shirts, 10 shoe

11 year old daughter: Size 20 plus, 7 shoe

Wife: Size large (9-10), 10 shoe

Soldier: Size large shirts, 34×30 pants, 10-1/2 shoe.

Collection hours for this Family will be Saturday 0930-1500 hours, Sunday 0900-1000, Monday evening 1800-2000 hrs.

 

We also will be needing Volunteers Saturday at the VAC for typical weekend duties:

VAC general maintenance to include organizing starting at 0930

Volunteers to help us deliver furniture please be there at 1100 hrs.
