Thank You for Supporting the Christmas Brunch & Toy Collection

Dec 24, 14 Thank You for Supporting the Christmas Brunch & Toy Collection

Sundays Christmas Brunch had over 240 participants with all the attendees, Supporters & Volunteers! The amount of toys collected between what has been dropped off at the VAC, the breakfast and from sponsors are over 2200 toys donated, and there were over $10,000 in gift cards packages. We also received hams turkeys and few hundred pounds of food. That’s not amazing it’s just true Christmas Spirit. So many supporters really showed their True colors and made sure as many that could be provided for were well provided for.

Sunday evening after a wrapping party, we delivered toys to Veteran Family’s, over 60 Children, food turkey’s hams and gift cards were also given out where needed. Any and all food that was extra or left over from the brunch was also taken where it was needed and was able to be used at a smaller gathering that night for the Dear Santa wish list Kids. Sponsors of families also made deliveries on Sunday & Monday taking care of another 22 Children that were on our Dear Santa wish lists.

Monday evening board members sorted through extra toys and were able to help out additional Veteran families that reached out to us over the weekend, and also fill the trunks of a few caseworkers so they could bring to families in need. We were also able to assist the Fealgood foundation, Blue Star Mothers chapter 12, Active Duty Marines stationed in Garden City, the Medford FD who had children in a shelter within their district. Toys were also sent over to the ER at Southside Hospital for any children that may be in the ER this Christmas Day or Eve.

Please go to bed with a smile on your face tonight knowing the smiles and screams of Joy as the children get to open those gifts on Christmas morning.

Thank you to all that donated toys and food for this event. And thank you to Home Depot, GE Aviation, The Ergonomics Group, the Medford American legion and the Medford Fire Department for teaming up with us.

The next few months our Team will be concentrating on our main missions: in house meetings and programs and ways to reach out to Veterans along with getting a dozen more Veterans comfortable in their new housing. Our next Food collection will be on Saturday January 17th at the VAC from 0930-1500 hrs. For any donation pledges please use the contact us link on our website and a team member will contact you. We are still asking for funds to ship care packages, please remember we ship out as often as we can, we always have stock of supplies and packed care packages ready to go, presently we have over 260 boxes in the VAC just waiting on funds for mailing.

If you are willing and able to help us pick up and deliver donated furniture and if you have a truck / trailer that can assist us please message us. We have a backlog on picking up donations as well as many Veterans to assist this winter. Thank You, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays & God Bless. santasatana payrsantathank you
