Tonight members of Boots on the Ground NY, hit the streets with the trailer and delivered furnishings to a new housed Veteran family of 5, then picked up 6 quality mattresses and delivered them to a veteran group home after being alerted that what the Veterans were given was not satisfactory, the night was ended by visiting another veteran who was also recently housed and providing him furnishings and new mattress. This is a typical Thursday night for the team. And we could use Volunteers!

It’s that time of the year again, where we are getting referrals to help Veterans recently housed. We cannot keep up with picking up donations as we only have one night a week, as all members are only volunteers, so this Saturday October 3rd, we are opening the VAC up for a collection day from 10-2pm for good quality dressers, kitchen sets and ware, couches, microwaves, end tables and coffee table.

We will also be collecting food items, sheets and towel sets, typically we only collect food on the third Saturday of the month, but again due to demands we will be open this Saturday.

This Saturday we also need a hand labeling care packages headed to Iraq & Afghanistan that were packed by our Tuesday night Veterans Group.

Next collection to date for food items and toiletries for Hospitalized Veterans will be Saturday October 17th.

The VAC is located at 2184 Pond Road, Ronkonkoma NY (631)-615-2200

To make a donation please use the following link: www.bootsonthegroundny.com/donate

We are in need of funding for mattresses and care package shipping.

Need a school or scout activity? Think of doing a food collection, or towels and sheets!

There are Veterans in need. Thank you!
