BOTGNY weekly update & volunteer opportunities – January 12th 2016

Tonight the Veterans peer groups will be attending the NYC Paramount premiere of “13 Hours” so the VAC will not be operational tonight, but will be again next Tuesday for veteran Activity Peer Night, with doors open by 1845 hours and chow by 1900. All Veterans invited and encouraged to stop in.

Thursday evening, (this week only) we are looking for volunteers to assist us in getting labels and custom forms pre -written for the upcoming pack out, The VAC will be open by 6pm and most likely be open till 9pm.

Saturday is the 3rd Saturday of the month so that means our monthly food drive from 11-3 at the VAC (Veterans Activity Center) located at 2184 Pond Road, Ronkonkoma. 631-615-2200.

Beginning Thursday evening January 21st – Recovery in the trenches – Support group for Veterans in recovery. This will be a every Thursday evening group with doors opening at 7pm, this group is for all Veterans & Military, attendance is anonymous. This support group is for all addictions.

We are still looking for more Volunteers to assist us with our Veteran Support Program (VSP). These Volunteers assist by picking up used furniture and also delivering furniture to Veterans that have transitioned from shelters to stable housing. Don’t forget the big annual pack-out at the Emporium on Sunday January 31st, doors open 2 pm, there’s live music by Decadia & 45 RPM and a buffet. Donation at the door is only $5 with all proceeds going to shipping of items to Iraq, Afghanistan, Korea & Africa.
