Food Drive tomorrow & Volunteer Opportunities this weekend.

Tomorrow is the third Saturday of the month which means Boots on the Ground NY has their monthly food drive collection going on at the VAC from 1000-1500 hours. We are collecting all nonperishable foods (boxed, canned, etc) and also frozen foods. Gift cards to food stores also work out great. Not only do we supply food to Veterans that are transitioning from shelters to housing with food but also to food pantries at shelters and also stock the food pantry at the VAC. The VAC is located at 2184 Pond Road, Ronkonkoma, NY (631)-615-2200.

We are also looking for Volunteers for tomorrow morning at 0900 & Sunday at 1300 to assist us with picking up furniture donations and delivering furniture to Veterans transitioning to housing. Please meet the team at the VAC (Veteran Activity Center) at 2184 Pond Road, Ronkonkoma. Saturday morning is about 3 hours of Volunteer time; Sunday is about an hour.

Please check out the BOTGNY Volunteer group page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/419188824807066/ for weekly volunteer opportunities.

Last night over a dozen volunteers came down to the VAC and started working on addressing care package labels and custom forms for the big annual pack out on the 31st of January at the Emporium. There will be a few more nights scheduled to get the 3000 address labels filled out, if you can come down and assist please check our Facebook pages for evenings.

And how are those Care Package Drive Collections going? Yesterday we picked up a donation drive from West Islip High School that filled the back of one of our trucks. William Floyd Navy JROTC has been conducting collection at the CVS in Shirley on Saturdays. Please update us with dates, times and pictures and we will get all that info on the Facebook pages.

We suggest everyone see this movie to see what these Heroes put on the line. Thank you to Paramount Pictures and Allied for our invite.

Thank you for your support!!! And see you on the 31st.

Veterans / Military – Please don’t forget our Veteran Peer Activity night every Tuesday and our Support group “Recovery in the Trenches” every Thursday night. Doors are open by 1900 hours, and there is always Chow. – Stay Connected!
