Good Morning – local Veterans need our assistance.

Mar 21, 16 Good Morning – local Veterans need our assistance.

Good morning everyone

Few things happened over the weekend that Boots needs to respond too, and we need your help.

We need to purchase 3 new mattress sets today for Three Veterans that just recently transitioned from homeless shelters into their own apartments and we are helping the veteran by furnishing their apartments. (goal is $600.00)

We had a Veteran (100% service connected) Family call us up to ask with assistance of funding as they’re being evicted from current housing and need funds to secure security and fees to move into their new apartment next week (goal is $1900.00). This family has reached out to many organizations and were told they didn’t have funding available for them. I don’t like giving that answer even when are accounts are empty, I tell the Veterans give me a few days to work this out and get the community involved.

We had a NY Soldier yesterday from Binghamton morning lose his Home and everything in it in a fire. This Soldier is a combat Vet and full time readiness NCO. They have 4 kids (ages 2-11) along with a Dog & Cat. Thankfully they all made it out safe, but now have nothing, stayed at a neighbor’s house last night and will be moving into a motel. We can use gift cards and funds for this family (Target & Walmart gift cards work out great. We are working with his senior NCO command on this. The ages and sizes of the children are: 11yo girl- 14/16 and shoe 5, 9yo girl – 8/10 slim shoe 3, 4yo boy – size 5 show kids 11, 2yo girl – 3T shoe size kid 7. We will have collection hours this Saturday at the VAC to be posted soon.

You can support these missions by mailing a check to PO Box 675 Bellport NY 11713 and writing in the memo line where you want your donation to go towards. Or by using this secure online link www.Bootsonthegroundny.com/donate All of your donations to BOTGNY are tax deductible.

On a positive note though We had a Great afternoon yesterday at the ‘Support Honor Flight’ event, although we had some bad weather forecasted it kept a lot home, but we still had a fun event, and raised ‘almost’ what the goal we wanted too.

Thank you All,

Frank B.
