There will be motorcycle escorts that morning to escort Five of the Heroes to the airport that morning. And if you ride, your invited.

Attention Motorcycle Riders & Honor Flight Supporters.

On Sunday Sept 25th there will be multiple motorcycle escort rides to escort World War 2 Veteran Hero’s to the Long Island MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma. This has been going on for many years twice a year when there is an Honor Flight scheduled. We have been at three escorts each flight for the past few years, but there is a need to increase the stages.

I struggle sometimes with which Veterans to choose for the escorts, as there are 50 on a flight, so now I will be choosing Veterans that don’t have family or even rides to the Airport (and rides home). Right now we have 5 Veterans that are in that category. 2 in Nassau and 3 in Suffolk.

For each Veteran the plan is to provide a motorcycle escort and a cage to get him to the airport for 0600 hrs. The escorts will start around 0500 ish (depending on travel time to Long Island MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma

The times below will be the time the escorts are leaving the staging’s. At each stage there will be a vehicle “cage” that will be transporting the Veteran to the hospital. The driver will be in contact with the Veteran and has all his contact. When I spoke with these Veterans to let them know we had a ride to the airport for them, I kept it quiet about the motorcycle escort, so they will be surprised to say the least. I have had veterans tell me they felt like the President because of the motorcycle escorts.

Oceanside Veteran – & Merrick Veteran – (this escort will be making 2 stops and taking 2 Veterans to the airport)

KSU will be from the Floral Park Fire Dept. – Reliance House at 0445 am sharp located at 2 Holland, Floral Park, Cage Driver Bob M.

Commack Veteran – KSU will be the Dunkin Donuts in Commack located at 20 Vanderbilt Motor Pkwy, Commack, NY 11725 KSU time will be 0520 hours. Cage driver Tommy C

Sayville Veteran –Stage and KSU will be at the VAC (2184 Pond Road, Ronkonkoma 0520 hrs.

RC Paul S, cage driver Chris S,

Shirley Veteran – Stage, Shirley TD BANK on William Floyd Pkwy, (just south of train tracks) KSU will be 0530, Hampton Bays Post 924 KSU will be 0500. RC Rich Steiber & ALR post 924, cage driver Donato.

Riders you can show up at any stage listed at the KSU times to ride with that escort in your area

We can always add more escorts also, there are 50 VETERANS on each flight, talk you your buddy riders, talk to your clubs or riding groups. These escorts happen at 0500, so it does not interfere with any other rides or events. Get back to me as soon as you can, if you can organize a group and captain a Veteran to the airport from his home. It is a truly amazing experience, the Veterans are our Living History, and they won’t be around for much longer, show them your appreciation, say thank you in an amazing way.

Many of you have been part of our welcome homes and send off over the years and we Thank You for your participation.
