Veteran Peer Night – every Tuesday evening
“Where Veterans Come Together”
Tuesday night at the VAC is a Veteran community evening.
Either stop in to chat with other Veterans, watch TV, play a game of pool, break bread with us, or assist us as we always have activities that we accomplish for our Veteran outreach missions.
The food, personal care pantries and pet food are available all evening.
Some weeks the group may go to outside activities, bowling, movies, adventure park, etc. so please check event each week, or call the VAC at leave a message at 631-615-2200
Please help us spread the word to Veterans, there is a place to go.
Anything said in the VAC stays in the VAC & sometimes you just need to be around other Veterans.
No paperwork, no fees, no membership, completely confidential. Anything said here, stays here.
Doors open by 1830 hrs.,
Chow, snacks, refreshments & food all available so come hungry
This is a Veteran & Service member evening only.
We encourage all Veterans of any era struggling since their return Home & transition to attend. Please realize you are not alone, many are in the same shoes you walk in.
If you need additional resources, please mention it to the group mentor or call 631-615-2200 and we will get you in the right direction with the right contacts.
Joining a peer support group can help you to feel better in any number of ways, such as: •Knowing that others are going through something similar •Learning tips on how to handle day-to-day challenges •Meeting new friends or connecting to others who understand you •Learning how to talk about things that bother you or how to ask for help •Learning to trust other people… •Hearing about helpful new perspectives from others
Peer support groups can be an important part of dealing with issues, but they are not a substitute for effective treatment in some cases.
